Asian Le Mans Series – A first win for G-Drive Racing by Algarve
The 2019-2020 Asian Le Mans Series season has kicked off with a bang. The fight for victory lasted through the last lap and final turns at the 4 Hours of Shanghai between new participant G-Drive Racing by Algarve's Aurus 01 and Thunderhead Carlin Racing's Dallara P217. Under the chequered flag, Harry Tincknell finished ahead of Roman Rusinov by 378 thousandths of a second! But, just a few minutes after the podium ceremony, victory was confirmed for G-Drive Racing by Algarve's Aurus 01 after its opponent was penalised for excessive driving time by an individual driver, ending up in third place. What a start to the season! The pole-sitter, Eurasiamotorsport's Ligier JS P217, claimed the second step on the overall podium.
RLR MSPORT's ORECA 05 won the LMP2 Am class.
In LMP3, the Ligier JS P3 fielded by Inter Europol Competition finished in first place. Also, Graff claimed a podium finish with its Norma M30 for its first ALMS appearance.
The D'station Racing team's Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 won the GT class. The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of JLOC and the BMW M6 GT3 of Astro Veloce Motorsports completed the podium, proof of the diversity of the class.
